ELA Standards, Part 2: Increasing Complexity and Rigor participants will learn what is complex text, why it interferes with standard instruction and assessment, and how to scaffold learning to address it. Moreover, participants will learn how to deepen background knowledge and vocabulary instruction to circumvent reading failure. How to structure PBL within the ELA classroom by using the standards and/or connecting with other disciplines may also be covered.
